Background[]
Jonathan Paul Dorenbos (/ˈdɔːrnbəs/; born July 21, 1980) is a former American football long snapper and magician. He played college football at the University of Texas at El Paso and was signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2003. Dorenbos also played for the Tennessee Titans and Philadelphia Eagles, with whom he played 11 seasons and played in 162 consecutive games. After getting traded to the New Orleans Saints in the 2017 preseason, it was discovered Dorenbos had an aortic aneurysm that required immediate surgery and ended his career. The trade was rescinded and the Eagles returned the pick to the Saints. The Eagles would go on to win Super Bowl LII that season, and it was announced Dorenbos would get an honorary ring.
Dorenbos has a parallel career as a professional magician. He was a finalist on season 11 of the television program America's Got Talent, performing his magic acts. He finished in third place for the season. [1]
Preliminary[]
Jon Dorenbos' preliminary performance in Episode BC04 consisted of performing a card trick in which he used different ways in revealing cards numbered in order from Ace to King, and then sorting all of the cards into their four different suits, before revealing a card Fresh chose under a paperclip he placed at the beginning of the act. Mike, Saf, Pennies and Fresh all gave him standing ovations. His performance was strong enough for the judges to send him to Judge Cuts instead of Eric Chien and Jibrizy.

Judge Cuts[]
Jon Dorenbos' Judge Cuts performance in Episode BC06 consisted of inviting guest judge Fuz to pick a random card from a deck and hide it from Jon. Jon then drew an incorrect card on a notepad, which he then "corrected" by making it look like a full deck. After Fuz revealed his card, Jon created the illusion of the correct card emerging from the deck on the paper. Mike, Saf, Fuz, Pennies and Fresh all gave him standing ovations. His performance was strong enough for the judges to send him to the Quarterfinals.

Quarterfinals[]
Jon Dorenbos' Quarterfinals performance in Episode BC012 consisted of having a prediction inside of a bottle and setting it aside. Then, all four judges drew a picture on a piece of paper. Jon proceeded to guess correctly which judge drew each drawing. Finally, he put the glass bottle inside of a bag and had Fresh smash the bottle with a hammer. Jon pulled an envelope out and inside of the envelope was a very accurate prediction of Fresh's drawing. A secret second pocket was revealed to have very accurate predictions of the three other judges' drawings. Mike, Saf, Pennies and Fresh all gave him standing ovations. He did not receive enough votes to advance to the Semifinals, eliminating him from the competition instead of Kukkiwon.
